If you'd like to delete a file and bypass the Trash Can you can so using a simple short cut. With your file or files highlighted, select Option + Command + Delete. You can also do this by going to the File menu and hold down the Option key, which changes the Move to Trash option to Delete Immediately. In either case, a dialog window will appear asking for you to confirm.
