Pro Tip: Skip silence on Voice Memo recordings on Mac

The Voice Memos app is incredibly useful to record important meetings, dialogues, sounds, and so on. However, while listening back on these recordings, you may notice silent sections that you'll have to skip through, which can be a hassle. This feature in Monterey automatically cuts out silence in your recordings.

How to skip silence in Voice Memos

  • Open Voice Memos

  • Open a recording

  • Click the Options icon

  • Toggle the switch 'on' next to Skip Silence

Enabling this feature will automatically cut silence in previous recordings, and will continue to do so in future recordings. Alternatively, toggling Skip Silence 'off' again will restore the silence in past recordings.
